The Idea of hosting an expedition race in Canada was born when Lyndie Hill, the CEO of Hoodoo Adventures, an adventure tourism and event company established in 2007 in the Okanagan, British Columbia, was approached by a racer of one of their multi-sport events asking if the company would be interested in hosting such an event.  Lyndie's career began in Adventure Tourism and events in New Zealand, and she had always wanted to bring a race like this to her home town.  It was the perfect timing for the adventurous event company to seize the opportunity to work with an avid adventure racer and the Adventure Racing World Series to bring this amazing event to their community and Expedition Canada came to life in 2020.

The Youth Outdoor Recreation Society (Y.O.R.S.) was created out of the fundraising efforts of Hoodoo Adventures & Lyndie Hill. In 2016 it was officially founded as a not-for-profit subsidy program. The Purpose Of The Society Is to subsidize & deliver affordable programs for mainstream and at-risk youth in the Okanagan to participate in outdoor recreation, education and leadership activities. By promoting community integration, relationship building, and life-skills development activities through outdoor recreation, Y.O.R.S. will provide the platform to help youth develop and nurture their physical, emotional and intellectual selves.
This will enhance their relationship and confidence in the surrounding natural environment.
